INDUSTRY NEWS: ASOS praised for showcasing models stretchmarks

June 28, 2017
BACK
Is this the end of Photoshop? From the laws being passed in France where publications now have to outline the use of photoshop on published images to leading online retailer ASOS showcasing swimwear models with stretch marks in several images, rather than retouching or photoshoping out the lines (which are competely natural!) Are we finally making the right changes in the fashion industry? Check out what Twitter uses had to say on the shots.

Reactions across social media especially twitter have, obviously, been ridiculously positive because weirdly – normal people have stretchmarks! LOOK magazine even stated it's 'ridiculous' that this is even news in 2017 because why shouldn't models be photographed with stretchmarks/ cellulite in the first place?

The unretouched movement has been circulating pre ASOS: Target sure jumped onboard with ditching Photoshop in their recent swimwear ads that were completely unretouched, and lingerie brand Aerie has been at the forefront of the no-editing, body-positivity movement for years. Hopefully, this will allow more brands to continue to follow this much-welcome wave of change.
