Your modelling portfolio is your resume, it is a true first impression of yourself as a model; this post is all about how to achieve the perfect portfolio. To be a successful model you need a picture- perfect portfolio, it is your CV for agencies, scouts and casting directors. Before creating your portfolio you need to select your market, IMM specialize in commercial modelling; if this is the type of modelling you want to explore then make sure your images suit that market. In your portfolio ensure that you have a number of full length and head shots from different angles, if you are doing commercial shots make sure you include images of yourself smiling, Fiona L’s portfolio is a prime example of a superb commercial book. Aaron Newbill, a successful and international model booker stated in an interview with Marie Claire that a good book ‘should show a model who is comfortable in front of the camera’, therefore wear clothes you feel comfortable in, act wacky in front of the camera to showcase your personality and do the classic Tyra Banks ‘work your smize’. The saying ‘less is more’ definitely applies to a portfolio, it is far better to have fewer photos that are amazing, rather than a large amount that are poor quality; always include a headshot with minimal makeup and it is important to have lingerie shots. Overall make sure your portfolio is professional, we adore Doreen's book as it consist of fashion, beauty and commercial high quality images, her work is a prefect example to start your portfolio. For more information on how to get into modelling then make sure to check out part three to find out how to prepare for a meeting with your agent.
