#PRIDE at IMM - Are we represented?

#pride at IMM

With pride very much among us its important to reflect on how far we’ve come but to recognize how much we have left to go. Videographer Jake asked some of our models what pride meant to them & asked the question of ‘do you feel represented in the media today?’. There were mixed reviews amongst everyone coming from different walks of life & ethnic backgrounds.

With this year being the 50th anniversary of pride lets take a look back at where it all started. It all began in New York back in 1970, the year after the Stonewall riots in Greenwich Village. Spanning over three days the riots were some of the most stand out instances that LGBT people resisted discrimination from the police. Most consider this the start of the modern gay liberation movement which expanded into the larger LGBTQI+ rights movement.

As Pride grows and becomes a worldwide event, it’s important to remember its origin. The events of 1970 became a turning point in LGBT history because of the activism that came from it. It still stands as a reminder of the hurt and brutality that people faced less than 50 years ago!

Please take a minute to watch the video we've put together & have a happy pride!

Thanks
THE IMM TEAM
